Two broad bodies of literature are of particular importance to the Global Soldiers project. Military memoirs form an important primary source, and are read alongside interview-based research conducted by members of the project team. We engage with secondary literatures on Southern African history, Cold War history and the interdisciplinary theoretical field known as Critical Military Studies.
